Your books stay with you
- Your documents and your reading history are never uploaded to our servers. We have no copy of your library.
- No account is needed to read your own files.
- There are no advertising trackers and no analytics tools in the app. We don’t build a profile of you.
- If you keep books in OneDrive, Dropbox or another synced folder, that service handles the sync under your own account; UniReader simply reads the files.
Looking up a book online
When you ask UniReader to find a book’s details, it sends what identifies it — title, author, ISBN, DOI or arXiv number — to Open Library, Crossref or arXiv, and downloads the cover you choose. Nothing is sent unless you ask.
The reading assistant (AI)
The assistant uses your own AI account. Your key is encrypted with your Windows account and kept on your PC; requests go straight to the provider you chose, and UniReader never receives your key or your content.
- Nothing leaves your PC without your action: the page (its text or its image) is sent only when you ask a question.
- What you send is then covered by that provider’s own privacy terms.
Trial and purchases
The 10-day trial is counted by the app on your PC. The one-time purchase and the subscriptions are handled by the Microsoft Store, under your Microsoft account; the app only learns whether your license is active.
This website
We count visits with a simple counter on our own server. There are no advertising networks, no social media pixels and no cross-site tracking. One cookie remembers the language you chose on the site.
Our host keeps ordinary web logs (address, time, page) for security; we don’t use them to profile anyone.
